22-year-old figure skater Nathan Chen finally became a gold medalist at the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022. Back in 2018, at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, Chen had failed to secure the gold, ending with a bronze medal.
However, that has changed now with his golden victory in Beijing. Moreover, he has set a new record with his score in the men’s short program as well. Now that all the commotion of the Winter Olympics is over, Chen will return to where he hasn’t been in almost a year- school.

Nathan Chen will head back to Yale now
Nathan Chen enrolled at Yale University in 2018. Since then, Chen has been pursuing Statistics and Data Science as his major in college. However, before he does that, Chen will first be touring the United States in the ‘Stars on Ice’ tour.
After that, Nathan Chen will head back to Yale, where he is a resident at Jonathan Edwards College. Chen had previously admitted that he is excited about his return to campus.

Even though he does carry his textbooks with him wherever he goes in the world, he misses being on campus in person. “It just doesn?t feel the same reading through that stuff in your own room,” he had stated.
Speaking to The New Yorker, Chen will head back to Yale in the fall, around the month of August. Once there, his immediate plan is to finish his classes and get in all of his credits, since he is “a little behind”.

Chen estimated that he has about twenty credits left to fill. Furthermore, he also admitted he is a little nervous about making the transition back into a schooling life. “I have to figure that out as soon as I can,” he said.
In fact, he also said that once back in school, he would not be bringing his gold medal with him. “I’ll be leaving it with my mother. I definitely won’t be bringing it to school,” the 2022 Olympic gold medalist said.
Chen has not had time to breathe
When asked about what he’s been doing since returning from the Beijing Winter Olympics, Nathan Chen described it as “pretty chaotic”. He shared that the US Olympic Team flew from Beijing to Seoul first. After that, they flew to Salt Lake City, where, incidentally, Chen grew up.
From there, Chen went to The Big Apple, where he spent two days busy with “a bunch of different media things”. Thus far, Chen shared how he has been “spending the past few days here in New York”.
“Even athletes assume that other athletes are these unbeatable marble towers,” the Olympic figure-skating champion Nathan Chen says. “And now the narrative is switching, like—Hey, we’re also humans, and we also have to respect ourselves as humans.”https://t.co/C8FVWcGFMR

However, rest is still going to elude the 22-year-old, as he stated that he’d be flying back to California very soon. Surely, with an Olympic gold medal must also come media responsibilities and huge limelight.
So far, Nathan Chen seems to be doing just fine at handling both.
