At one point, the 2022 Olympics gold medal winner Chloe Kim was so fed up with the fame that she wanted to quit the sport altogether. While many athletes have been irked by fans who worship them, Kim wanted people to see her apart from being just a snowboarder. However, thankfully, she decided against that and recently won gold at the ongoing Beijing Winter Olympics.

The half-pipe legend is one of the best snowboarders in the world and has continued her winning streak. After becoming the first woman to claim back-to-back gold medals in the event, Chloe Kim must be happy right now; although she was not before.

Chloe Kim was fed up with snowboarding questions

As she attended school in her country, Chloe talked about students always wanting to talk to her about snowboarding and snowboarding alone, which she disliked. Moreover, winning a gold medal for your country puts you on the map. Quitting the sport was a serious option for her as she talked about those stages in her life.

“Honestly, I think I hated it for the first time in my life. Post-Olympics, every conversation I had with anyone was always about snowboarding, like nothing about myself. And I’m like, ‘Alright, if that’s all you care about then I’m out’,” said Kim.

Significantly, she said that a return to snowboarding would happen only if she missed the sport. The rest, as they say, is history.
