Crashes and accidents are a common thing for players taking part in adventurous sports and most winter sports come with high risks. Players often suffer serious collapses and sometimes these accidents can be career-threatening as well. But despite all the risks involved, players have a great passion for the sport they play.

Beijing Winter Olympics 2022 has been a complete nightmare for the American skier Mikaela Shiffrin. The two-time Olympic gold medalist couldn’t complete the two races she took part in because of a crash, and in the remaining events, her performances were below par. One could only imagine the disappointment she might be feeling right now, as she was the top favorite going into the competition.

Lindsey Vonn backs Mikaela Shiffrin for her setbacks

 

Not just from her boyfriend Aleksander Kilde, but Mikaela Shiffrin is receiving support from other Olympians as well. The most incredible ski racer of all time, compatriot Lindsey Vonn, has come out in support of her now.

Following Mikaela’s most recent crash in her final event at the Olympics, Lindsey posted on her Twitter, saying,Yes In ?06 Olympics I crashed in downhill training, was helicoptered to the hospital where I spent the night and raced 48 hours later. My biggest success was just getting back on the mtn. Wasn?t in convention of medals at that point.Unfortunately, crashing is a part of our sport.”

Against everything that happened, Mikaela is giving her best to the sport. She even took part in the downhill event, proving that despite all the setbacks, her love for the game is at the top.

Is it the end for Mikaela Shiffrin?

The 26-year-old skier has led an amazing career. She has three won World Cups and four slalom World Championships. In fact, she is the youngest slalom champion in Olympic history. Although Beijing Olympics didn’t go well for the champion skier, certainly, she had nothing to prove.

One bad tournament does not define Mikaela Shiffrin as a player. These setbacks and disappointments are temporary and she’ll be back as the champion she has always been.
