The US men’s 3×3 Basketball team entered the Pan American Games with a massive performance. The team wreaked havoc in their opening game at Santiago, Chile to register an overwhelming win. Interestingly, the centerpiece of the huge American win was a former teammate of LeBron James’ trusted ally, Anthony Davis.
Jimmer Fredette led the US 3×3 squad to yet another overwhelming win as they beat El Salvador. The basketball star led the charge as the US triumphed over their South American counterparts by a giant margin. In fact, the Americans destroyed the opposition with a whopping seven two-pointer shots.

Jimmer Fredette has been laying siege to the defense of every opposition he faces for quite some time now. The former teammate of LeBron James’ trusted ally made his 3×3 debut in 2022 and has been on fire ever since. His offensive prowess ruled throughout the match as El Salvador suffered a crushing defeat with a score of 22-8. USA Basketball 3×3 tweeted an image of Fredette along with the match result on its official X account to celebrate the win.

The tweet carried the caption, “LIGHTS OUT shooting performance from the US Men, who sank seven 2-pointers, to take game one of #Santiago2023!” The American team dominated the scoreboard and didn’t allow El Salvador to even cross the 10-point margin. Just like LeBron James, Fredette led the team in scoring with nine points in the bag. In fact, eight of his nine points came from two-point shots from downtown.

Out of the seven downtown buckets scored by the men’s team, Jimmer Fredette landed four of them. Fredette shot with an 80 percent downtown accuracy, making four of his five shots from behind the arc.
Moreover, he also ended the game in style with a two-pointer. His teammate Barry Canyon also scored off two of his three downtown attempts. While the men’s team dominated their first match, the women’s team also won their Santiago opener.

The women’s team never allowed the opposite team of the Dominican Republic to take the lead as they won by a score of 22-11. Azura Stevens led the US women in scoring with ten points. The women’s team also ruled from downtown, making four of their five shots from behind the arc. The US men and women are the defending Pan American 3×3 basketball champions. While they won the inaugural Pan Am 3×3 competition, will they be able to take the top prize once again?
