They created a historic record in the attendance realm with the large number of audience present. The American sports host Stephen A. Smith was absolutely in awe after seeing the vision of a humungous crowd and an ideal match altogether. Not just this, he also shared tons of appreciation about the star player Caitlin Clark after dubbing her as the Stephen Curry of college basketball.

One of the main attractions here was Clark who took down the opponents with wonderful numbers. The most overwhelming part of this play was not just the crowd, but also the children’s hospital that is situated just opposite the ground. Such huge participation in one game has never been seen before and this record is no sooner going to get broken.

On the 15th of October 2023, an overwhelming game took place at the Kinnick Stadium between Iowa and DePaul. This game showed what people didn’t see in the last 21 years. Their spectacular match broke the 21-year attendance record with an immense crowd of 55,646 people packed in the stadium. This was the first women’s basketball game that was being played outdoors in a football stadium. TV anchor Smith stated, “It’s incredibly impressive that 55,600 plus people show up to watch the game.”

Both personalities spoke about the immense crowd, star player Caitlin Clark’s incredible talent, and the children’s hospital which was visible from the stadium. This game set an NCAA single-game record for the largest attendance in women’s basketball history.

The entire scenario on Sunday was nothing less than impressive and anyone witnessing the circumstances of the match would definitely be impressed. They broke the previous record set in 2002 of attendance which was 29,619 people at the national game between Oklahoma and UConn at Alamdome in San Antonio, Texas. Recently, Stephen A. Smith dubbed Caitlin Clark the “Steph Curry of women’s college basketball” as he anticipated the 2023-24 season. After the match, he shared immense admiration for the player.

He expressed, “Caitlin Calrk, the best player in college basketball, as far as I’m concerned, women’s college basketball.” He also said that she’s special. Showering more compliments about the player he expressed, “She is box office, she’s a must-see Steph Curry of women’s basketball. She’s the real deal.”

This outstanding match also had the Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital which overlooks the stadium. The children and their parents from the hospital were waving at the players on the ground and following the greatest tradition of sports, the players also waved at the children straight for a minute. All the net proceeds from the game were donated to the hospital.
