Trey McGowens was announced for this year’s FIBA 3×3 U23 World Cup alongside three more NBA G League players. The 6’4 guard displayed an impeccable Kyrie Irving finish while playing against the national 3×3 basketball team of Lithuania. The official X handle of FIBA 3×3 Basketball shared a tweet showcasing the effortlessly smooth layup execution by McGowens.

The tweet carried the caption, “McGowens doing his best Kyrie impression! #3X3U23.” The snippet displayed McGowens receiving the ball at the three-point arc and receiving a brilliant screen from his teammate. This was more than enough for the NBA G League player who charged to the ring and made the play. McGowens went straight for the kill as a defender tried to unsuccessfully block his shot. The commentators in the video were absolutely thrilled by the quick, accurate, and impossible layup execution.

One of the commentators said, “Taking a runway at the basket, McGowens, Oh My God how did he get that in!?” The commentator went again when the slow-motion action replay was shown, saying, “I’m not sure how he got that in. Look at this one, oh my goodness!” Kyrie Irving is known for getting a hoop in even the most impossible situations with the most insane movements. McGowens treated the crowd with an almost similar visual delicacy. In fact, he also led the scoreboard in points, just like the NBA star.
