The last time when Olivia Dunne and Angel Reese posed together for Sports Illustrated’s cover page, both had brought the stunning side of LSU camp to the fore. Eventually, last year when they featured for the magazine, their NIL deals made the story and headline featuring how LSU camp’s female athletes are attracting the biggest deals. Things have changed now. Olivia Dunne has yet to take a final call for her fifth-year continuation for the LSU while Angel Reese has parted ways with the Baton Rouge club, to join Chicago Sky. But the same stage of SI has recently brought these two famed names closer again, if not by their physical presence, then by their narration.

At the 60th-anniversary gala party of SI swimsuit, the LSU Tigers’ gymnast went into full mouth while talking about her old mate. Going back to their cherished friendship, Olivia Dunne added, “She’s an awesome girl, and I love what she’s doing for female athletes, and she’s just amazing.” With that, she also recalled when she had appeared as a helping hand for the proud “Tall Girl Twitter” member.

Describing that, Livvy said, “Angel was in an issue last year and I just really support her”. Though the top two names in the nation’s female athletes are distant from each other now, their mesmerization of each other remains the same. Last year when they appeared together for the SI cover page show, they justified their reason for going with the large NIL deals. They put those deals to use in fulfilling their commitment to women’s empowerment.

For Olivia Dunne, it was all about making her mark through the Livvy Fund. The Fund helps LSU women athletes with the necessary connections and ideas to ace such big deals. Talking about that, Dunne explained later, “There’s not many [lucrative] professional leagues for women’s sports after college, so it’s really important that women can capitalize on it now while they’re in college.” Angel Reese has had the same point for the WNBA. Now when she is trying her feet in the WNBA leaving college basketball, her words from last year give a valuable impression.

“Everybody knows the WNBA doesn’t make that much money, so I just want to be able to grow my brand as much as I can in college before I go to the WNBA,” she said at that juncture. Now the Maryland native is eyeing to own a team. The target remains the same- leave a mark on the betterment of women athletes. But when was the time Angel Reese took inspiration from Olivia in handling things? In such cases, the New Jersey native proves to be a pole star.

A sudden buzz can bring both followership and hatred as well. Angel Reese experienced this closely when she was earning accolades and deals. However, to fit correctly in such a position, the 22 years needed to follow Zen’s footsteps and Olivia Dunne appeared in the scene, being that soul saver. The baller spoke about it vigorously in one of her conversations.

“Everybody used to talk about how Livvy wasn’t even able to go to class and stuff [because of her fame]. I could only imagine what she was dealing with. And then when it happened to me [after the championship game], I was like, ‘Well, dang.’” remained the words from Angel. The cherishing still continues.

After the LSU Tigers achieved the national gymnastics title last season, Angel Reese congratulated Livvy and her teammates. The victory in the SEC contest wasn’t avoided by the Chicago Sky’s forward as she shared her IG story congratulating the whole pack. So despite the change of dens, both the standouts remain the same when it comes to their old camaraderie.
