The NCAA women’s basketball tournament drama has garnered comments and opinions from across the world. It all started when LSU Tigers player Angel Reese made a ‘you can’t see me’ gesture in front of Iowa Hawkeyes’ Caitlin Clark. While LSU eventually won the championship, further developments surrounding the drama added fuel to fire. Debates sparked when the first lady, Dr. Jill Biden, invited both teams to the White House, thus defying the tradition of calling only winners. This did not go down well with a lot of people, including the two teams.
As Clark publicly but subtly denied the invite, Simone Biles‘ childhood friend, who also happened to be an LSU alumnus, stood by her.

Rachel Moore and Simone Biles are attached to the hip since childhood. Both have trained as gymnasts and have always had each other’s backs. Last September, Moore obtained her master’s degree in management from Louisiana State University in Shreveport, thus making her an alumnus. After the LSU vs Iowa State debate rose, the gymnast’s best friend took a stance as well.
When Dr. Jill Biden’s invitation to the White House came in, the 2023 Naismith Women’s College Player Of The Year expressed her opinion about how only the winners have historically visited the White House. She appreciated the gesture but didn’t believe that “runner-ups usually go to the White House”. Caitlin Clark wanted her on-court rival team LSU Tigers to celebrate by themselves.
Moore took to Instagram to share the statement on her story. Being an alumnus of the university, she showed her support towards her alma mater, Angel Reese, and Clark’s stance.
Since the denial of the invitation, the plot thickened in the form of an interview with Reese.

Fans are concerned for Angel Reese’s future
When LSU’s basketball champion Angel Reese revealed how she didn’t accept Dr. Jill Biden’s apology for inviting the runners-up, fans stormed the internet. Most were concerned about the athlete’s future and compared her to track star Sha’Carri Richardson.
While the internet appreciated her bold words, fans felt that people may turn their backs on her just like they did on the track star. Richardson narrowly missed out on making it to the Olympics roster after she tested positive for THC. What the future holds for both Reese and Clark, only time will tell.
