The New York Mets are currently in search of a General Manager for their team. The vacancy has been in place for so long; it has become the talk of the town. In fact, even famed talk show host, Jimmy Kimmel, joked about withdrawing his name from the position.
The Baseball franchise has been struggling to fill up their top positions of president of baseball operations and general manager. However, they are adamant on finding the perfect candidate and will not give up their search just like that.

Jimmy Kimmel jokes about withdrawing his application
Established in 1962, New York Mets is going a second straight season with no general manager in place. The team’s president Sandy Alderson has been taking care of the operations and is eagerly in search of his next desired candidate; sadly, his options are few to none. Due to controversies since 2018, the New York Mets have not seen a constant general manager in the team.
Now, even American television host Jimmy Kimmel withdrew his interest from the position. Jimmy tweeted saying, “After much thought, I have decided to withdraw my name from consideration as GM of the @Mets.”

Jimmy surely joked about it, as he himself is a New York Mets fan. Interestingly, he has even used his work to showcase his love for the team.
Jimmy’s documentary on New York Mets
Jimmy Kimmel had produced a documentary on the New York Mets, ‘Once Upon a time in Queens.’ The documentary beautifully showcased the 1986 season for the Mets. Notably, it was the last time Mets had clinched the Fall Series title. Interviews of New York Mets stars, Dwight Gooden, Mookie Wilson, Lenny Dykstra, Keith Hernandez and Darryl Strawberry are part of the documentary.

Clearly, the absence of the higher officials has been affecting the team. However, the team might soon decide, as Adam Cromie is reported to be the front runner in the general manager race.
Adam is a former National executive and had left baseball in 2017 to pursue his attorney career. Adam has reportedly done multiple interviews with the New York Mets, and the team might finally have their general manager.

In fact, it was also reported earlier that Mets have an interest in hiring Cromie, the former Nationals assistant general manager(2014). Well, safe to say, Adam’s chances no more look bleak as Jimmy Kimmel is out of the contention.
