The Japanese player secured the most-awaited award of the year, AL MVP award, unanimously! While it had become pretty obvious that Ohtani was going to win, it’s only official now.
Shohei Ohtani has surpassed legends to clinch the MVP award
When baseball fans think about a two-way player, the first name that comes up is that of the legendary player, Babe Ruth. However, the 2021 season has given the sport a new two-way star, Shohei Ohtani.
Undeniably, Babe Ruth is the best player baseball has ever witnessed; but not the best two-way player, however. Interestingly, Ohtani’s 2021 performance has not only surpassed many legends like Babe Ruth, but he has also new records in the sport.
Ohtani became the first player in Major League Baseball history to hit 30+ home runs and 30+ strikeouts in 2021. Not to mention, he blasted 46 home runs in total.
MLB was created in 1876.

Sadly, even after his stellar run, Ohtani couldn’t produce his skills in the post-season, as the Los Angeles Angels’ team failed to back him at the same pace. Although he did not appear in the post-season, his stats were so high, no one else could triumph over him.
While the above stats themselves prove no one else deserved the award more than him, here are some more incredible stats in Ohtani’s 2021 stellar run.
It’s ‘Showtime’: Insane records by Ohtani in 2021
As baseball’s highest-paid player, Mike Trout tweeted, “WELL DESERVED, #SHOTIME!,” the facts about his home runs (46), RBI’s (100), and strikeouts are known to all. Moreover, Ohtani has extraordinary speed as well. Baseball sensation smashed 25 home runs with a 110 mph exit velocity or harder, which is four more than anyone else.

Additionally, he also blasted six home runs this season that traveled at least 450 feet.
After missing out on the 2021 post-season, will the Los Angeles Angels be able to step up their game next season, especially with Ohtani at their disposal?
