The race for the MVP is heating, and San Diego Padres Fernando Tatis Jr. is one of the front runners. Just 22, Tatis outnumbered his counterparts with his insane skills and achievements.

Tatis Jr’s journey in 2021 has been thrilling yet inspiring. The young MLB star has not once but at least four times has faced a partial dislocation of his left shoulder. However, despite the injuries and setbacks, Tatis will be soon qualifying 162-game season in the big leagues.

Fernando Tatis Jr. aimed for MVP

Tatis has baseball in his blood, and his astonishing performances have made it abundantly clear. Fernando Tatis Jr’s dad, Fernando Tatis, was also a successful player, popularly known for hitting two grand slams in one inning.

During a recent interview, Fernando Tatis Jr. revealed that being MVP has always been a dream for him. He said, “For me it’s always been a dream to win MVP and it’s always been a goal. If you wanna be the best player, that’s totally something you have to aim for.”

On Friday they asked Tatis why he thinks he should be the MVP? The young star seemed confident about his performance as he said, “I feel like the numbers will just speak for themselves — what I did this year with the passion I did it with.”

In the National League, Tatis Jr. is leading with 42 home runs and has a good lead over his competitors. He has an average of.318, while his counterpart for the MVP race, Philadelphia Phillies’ Bryce Harper, has an average of .305.

The team manager praises Tatis

Despite missing out on 30 matches citing his shoulder injury, Tatis has made it to the top rankings. Interestingly, no San Diego Padres player has won the MVP award since 1996 when Ken Caminiti won.

And now remarkably, Tasis’ chances of winning the NL MVP are too realistic. Going forward, the MLB star is certain to reach the feat of NL home run king, since Fred McGriff (1992).

Even San Diego Padres’ manager Jayce Tingler believes Tatis is the MVP of the year. Talking about the same, Tingler said, “I know my opinion on it. He has been the most valuable player in the league.”

“Missing quite a few games with IL stints and still having the numbers, the production, the special type of player that he is to even be mentioned in the top three, and quite frankly should and could win the MVP, I think that speaks to his talent and ability.”
