Chicago Cubs don’t want a 10-year contract with Carlos Correa
Carlos Correa has been on top priority for rich franchises like New York Yankees, hence taking his stakes up. Interestingly, when his competitor in free agency, Corey Seager, secured a $325 million deal, Carlos was predicted to land a higher deal.

Lately, reports had shown Carlos’ potential future in Chicago. However, a new source pushes Cubs back from the front-runner position in the Carlos deal. According to Score’s Bruce Levine, Cubs have serious interest in Carlos Correa; but they are not ready for a 10-year commitment despite having the money, a deal Carlos might be expecting.
Notably, this could be a strategic move by Cubs’ front office, yet one cannot ignore they have some serious threats from other teams. With the richest franchise in MLB, the New York Yankees, also in the race, they can only hope Carlos doesn’t receive a long-term offer.

Can Cubs convince Carlos for a short-term deal?
Interestingly, the Chicago Cubs can still land Carlos Correa in upcoming free agency, with a short-term deal. A report had claimed that if Carlos doesn’t receive a $300 million offer, he might look for a short-term deal, but with a high average annual salary. Being the top free agent, Carlos’ demands are indeed in the right place.

If Cubs want to secure him on their side, they will have to go for a high average annual salary short-term deal. Albeit, all the reports, nothing can be concluded as of now, until the lockout is over.
