Interestingly, Freeman became a free agent for the 2022 season. While he had hinted at his desire to go back to his former team, no conclusions were reached before the lockout. Although Braves also has an interest in re-signing him, their star pitcher, Tyler Matzek, wants to make sure his team prioritizes Freeman.

Throwing back to his experience with Freeman, Tyler Matzek tweeted saying, Fun fact, @FreddieFreeman5 was my first strike out. Almost everyday I see him, I remind him he’s #1 in my book.” He further added a hashtag, ”#resignfreddie”

While Freddie did not react to the resigning point, he replied to Tyler’s tweet about the strikeout incident saying, ”This is true lol”

Freddie Freeman is on the radar of other teams

After his stellar run in 2021, his high demand for free agency was expected. However, the teams were skeptical if he would want to switch from the Braves. But a report had claimed that Braves were stalling, re-signing him before the lockout, making him impatient. Braves’ slow moves have opened doors for other teams to grab the star on their side.

Notably, some teams like Los Angeles Dodgers had already approached him before the lockout. If the Braves want to re-sign Freddie, they will have to be aggressive and quick in their talks with him once the lockout is over.
