Rob Manfred’s thoughts on the Atlanta Braves name

Back in October 2021, when Rob Manfred, commissioner of MLB, was asked about changing the team’s name, he said, “We don’t market our game on a nationwide basis. Ours is an everyday game. You’ve gotta sell tickets every single day to the fans in that market. And there are all sorts of differences between the regions in terms of how the teams are marketed.”

Many fans already have given the Braves the name, Tomahawk Chop. However, to date, the team has not announced any plans for the change in their name. Albeit, the team might aim for re-branding catering to their fans across America in the future. Some fans hope that the team takes a name after their legend Hank Aaron, calling the team, “Hammers.”
