To play any sport, good and authentic equipment is a must for the players. The need for a good bat in baseball is as pivotal as the need for a good racket in tennis, a good ball in soccer or basketball, a good club in golf, etc.
And when we talk about baseball, then having a good bat is a primary need for any hitters. A hitter will be judged by his hitting capability in the game. Notably, if a hitter plays with a metal bat, they will hit much harder and farther as compared to a wooden bat. Whoever has played baseball in their childhood, probably used a metal bat to hit a baseball. But that does not give freedom to players to play with such metal bats on a major level.

For any aspiring baseball player, Major League Baseball (MLB) is the dream destination. It’s the biggest stage for stars of the sport to showcase their talent. But while playing in the MLB, players aren’t allowed to use metal bats to hit the ball.
Why does the MLB not use metal bats?
MLB has put a restriction to play with the metal bats, because of various concerns. Professional baseball players of both Major League Baseball and Minor League Baseball can hit the ball very hard. And while doing so, it is possible that sometimes the ball might hurt opposition players or fans in the stands.
Professional players are so skilled and trained that if they start using metal bats, they will pose serious life-threatening injuries for anyone present on the pitch and in stands.

One more reason for putting a ban on metal bats is, if players use such bats, then they will hit the ball farther with their tremendous bat swing and hitting capacity, which will provide an extra advantage for the hitters. And it will be unfair to the pitchers. This is why the authorities have put a ban on metal bats.

On the other hand, if players will use wooden bats, they will have to use more power and techniques to hit the ball harder and farther. This is the reason, home runs are hard for any hitter in MLB, which wouldn’t be the case if metal bats were allowed.
However, using metal ones is perfectly acceptable in amateur leagues, because of their long-lasting nature.
