Tyrus Raymond Cobb aka Ty Cobb was one of the greatest ever to play baseball. Born on December 18, 1886, Ty Cobb left the world on July 17, 1961. But the legacy he built in baseball is still alive among the baseball fraternity. During his 28 seasons in MLB, Ty Cobb represented two teams, Detroit Tigers and the Philadelphia Athletics.

Ty Cobb’s bat is worth $100,000?

It has been over a 100 years before when he first played in MLB. And for a true baseball fan, it will be a luxury to have one of his used bats. Recently, a video of the TV series ‘Pawn Stars’ has been doing rounds on social media. In the video, a person named Zane claims to have a 1925 Ty Cobb and Joe Sewell game used signed bat. For which he is demanding a huge amount of $100,000 from Corey Harrison (the host of Pawn Stars).

The person who came with the Ty Cobb and Joe Sewell signed bat, claimed that both these legends in their 20s had played together. As per Zane, it was Joe Sewell who signed Ty Cobb’s bat, but instead of Ty Cobb, Sewell used to play with that bat.

When Harrison asked the bat owner if it’s actually Ty Cobb’s bat, why would Joe Sewell sign Cobb’s bat? Zane replied, “Well they’re both southern boys, Joe was from Alabama and Ty was from Georgia. Ty let Joe order one of his bats.”

He also confirmed that he was not sure if Ty Cobb used it, but Sewell definitely used the bat.

What is the actual price of the bat?

On being asked about how much of price he is looking to get for the bat? Zane demanded a huge amount of $100,000. Harrison, the owner of Pawn Stars, was not ready to pay this much of the amount without verifying if the bat was original. He called one of his colleagues who authenticates the sports items.

After verifying the bat and all signatures of Joe Sewell and Ty Cobb, it was clear that the bat was an antique piece. And, the guy who examined the bat said that the bat’s worth will be around $15,000. Which was far lower than $100,000. However, Harrison was not willing to spend that much money and offered Zane only $12,000 for Ty Cobb’s bat. And Zane’s last offer was $75,000. The owner returned with his unique bat.
