Seems like the good old days are waiting for the Yankees fans this season. The last time New York Yankees won the World Series and the American League in baseball was in 2009, almost over 12 years back. But this time, if everything goes their way, they might actually end their trophy drought. Recently, FanGraphs in their lockout projected ZiPS standings, have predicted the Yankees to win the American League East this year.
Last year, after the 2021 season, New York Yankees had won 92 games out of 162 and were third on the points table of the AL East. Their arch-rivals Boston Red Sox were second in the league while Tampa Bay Rays went on to win the league with their record 100 wins during last season.

New York Yankees to win the AL East in 2022?
Well, even if the Yankees think to pull off the AL East this season, they will have to do a lot of work before the new season starts. Considering the lack of depth in their squad, they will have to target some of the top available players in free agency in order to win the American League and the World Series.

However, everything aside, FanGraphs has predicted that the Yankees will win the American League in the 2022 season. That too, by winning less number of matches compared to the previous season.
As per the FanGraphs’ lockout projected ZiPS standing, New York Yankees will win 90 games this season. Two more than the defending champions Tampa Bay Rays and one more than the Toronto Blue Jays.
