After months of the lockout in Major League Baseball, MLB owners and the Players’ Union finally reached a new collective bargaining agreement on Thursday. And with baseball coming back to life, the season opener will see arch-rivals of the game New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox grace the ballpark in an epic clash.

Notably, the lockout lasted close to 100 days (99) in MLB. But after continuous negotiations between the two parties, a deal has been finally agreed upon for the next five years in Major League Baseball.
Though the regular season will start on April 7th, no games and service times have been lost; This was something that both the owners and players were in favor of. However, amidst all the updates, what’s making headlines is how fans will witness the baseball rivals New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox play on the opening day of the season, and that too at the Bronx.

New York Yankees to play season opener against arch-rivals Boston Red Sox
Baseball is finally back at ballparks, and so is the greatest rivalry. Notably, the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox have been rivals for years. After the announcement of the new CBA, MLB also confirmed that the first game of the season will be played between the Yankees and Red Sox on April, 7th, from 01:05 pm onwards.

As per MLB journalist, Bob Nightengale, a total of 16 teams will play on the opening day on Thursday, April, 7th. And the rest of the teams will have their opening day on April 8th. Nightengale also confirmed that the Red Sox will play against the Yankees at the Bronx.

The remainder will have Opening Day on Friday, April 8.

However, the Red Sox fans will have to wait a bit to see their team play at the home stadium. After playing a three-game series against the Yankees in the Bronx, Red Sox will head to Detroit for another three-game series against the Detroit Tigers.
