With the lockout still in force, baseball fans are further deprived of MLB games. However, contractual rumors of free agents and players who are in the last year of their contracts continue to keep fans engaged. And when it comes to Aaron Judge, his status in the league with the New York Yankees has been a hot topic in MLB for a while now.
Notably, Aaron Judge has been a top player for the Yankees over the last few years. Whenever the ongoing lockout will end in Major League Baseball, the main target for the Yankees will be to extend Judge’s contract. Else, after the 2022 season, Judge will be a free agent. And at that time, it will be more difficult to keep him at the club.

Yankees’ manager Aaron Boone wants Aaron Judge to be the leader of the team
The past few years have not been so good for the Yankees in MLB. But one of the few positive takeaways from their 2021 campaign was the brilliant performance of Aaron Judge.
Most certainly, in order to build the squad and win titles, the Yankees wouldn’t want Judge to leave their side. And not to mention, apart from being a good player, Aaron Judge also has all the qualities needed to lead the side.
While talking to CC Sabathia and Ryan Ruocco on their podcast channel R2C2, Aaron Boone opened up about the contract extension of Aaron Judge. The Yankees’ manager said that Judge is the face of the team and in the past few years, he has become the voice of the side. Boone expressed that Judge has developed himself as a leader of the group.

“Well, I don’t think it’ll affect him because he is such a pro. Now, you can argue that an extension somehow you know, takes him to another level maybe as a leader and obviously the face of this team. I think for me what’s been cool to see about Aaron over the last couple of years…i do feel like he’s really coming into… as a really good leader on this team,” said Aaron Boone.
“He is obviously been our best player and probably the face of our team. But I’ve really enjoyed seeing… Aaron… as the voice of this team,” he added.
