The world record set by Usain Bolt is hard to match. He is the fastest man alive after setting the record at the 2009 World Championships. Nearing that record would take something special for an athlete to achieve. However, in a traditional festival in India, one person reached that record. Kambala is an annual buffalo race that happens in India. With two buffalos in front of him, the jockey runs on a paddy field at full pace.

Faster than Usain Bolt?

Although the race does not happen on a track, it is still impressive to see these athletes set better times than the current 100-meters world record. Srinivasa Gowda set a time of 8.78 seconds last year. But, Nishanth Shetty has gone further ahead and broken that record with a time of 8.36 seconds. The race was for 125 meters and he finished the race in 10.44 seconds. After equating the time to 100m, the aforementioned calculated time comes into the limelight.

A humble achievement

Gowda spoke in awe about Bolt’s achievements. Running on the slushy fields, he did not take credit for himself, rather, gave it to his two buffaloes. He is an inspiration to all.

“People are comparing me to Usain Bolt. He is a world champion, I am only running in a slushy paddy field. The credit of my success should also go to my two buffaloes. They ran very well. I chased them or drove them,” said Gowda.
