Usain Bolt ran with damaged teeth
In an interview, the legendary sprinter revealed the issues he had with his teeth ever since the age of 10. With no dental clinics in Jamaica during that period, Bolt found it hard to find a place to mend his teeth.
“If you watch my career, I had broken teeth through my younger age that I couldn’t get fixed because it wasn’t easily accessible,” said Bolt.
According to the WHO, there is less than one dentist for 100,000 people in Jamaica. Moreover, studies on dental health care showed that 70% of the people had a toothache while 65% of people found it hard to eat food.
In addition, 49% of people were conscious about their teeth as Jamaica faced a glaring dental crisis. Bolt himself went to Germany back in 2015 to get his teeth fixed.
“I went to Germany when I finally decided to fix my teeth properly, and just the equipment and how it was done quickly and done well was just amazing,” said Bolt.
Thus, this prompted him to partner with several investors to start premium dental care for people in his country.
