One man who is still receiving a lot of praise for his performances in 2021 is Fred Kerley. The incredible sprinter from Texas is deemed to be a legend in the making. Competing at the highest level for a long time, Kerley is en route to having another unbelievable season.

Notably, his 100-meter silver medal victory at Tokyo Olympics was a stunning accomplishment. Starting his career as a 400-meter specialist, he shifted gears commendably to perform well in all three different race competitions.

Competing well in the 100 and 200-meters, he certainly fancies himself in the 400-meters competition as well. Undoubtedly, achieving that level of excellence is unprecedented, but not impossible. As of now, Kerley looks motivated to script history.

“We on a different level this year record will be broken. Say no more,” tweeted Kerley.

Among the goals he might have on his mind, the world record set by Usain Bolt of 9.58 seconds in 100-meter is certainly one of them. The next person on that list he’d like to beat is Tyson Gay, who achieved 9.69 along with Yohan Blake. As for Kerley, his current best time in the competition is 9.84 seconds. In the meantime, there is another unique stunt that he can accomplish.

Kerley chasing Herb McKenley’s astonishing feat

Back in 1951, the Pan American Games saw Jamaican athlete Herb McKenley doing something that had never been done before. He won the bronze medal for the 100, 200, and 400-meters competitions in the same event.

Notably, Kerley has set astonishing times in these competitions as well. He joined two other athletes (Wayde van Niekerk & Michael Norman) to record times sub 10 in 100, sub 20 in 200, and sub 44 in 400-meters. Hence, Herb’s record is something that he can accomplish in the next athletic season.

In what would prove to be an extraordinary feat, Kerley can reach the celebrity status levels of Usain Bolt if he wins three gold medals at a single athletics competition. However, as he looks pumped for a brilliant 2022, only time will tell what the future holds for Kerley.
