Five men are symbolic to Jamaica in their sporting history. No, we are not talking about Usain Bolt and his relay teammates. Notably, Devon Harris, Dudley Stokes, Michael White, Freddy Powell, and Chris Stokes, under the guidance of coach Howard Siler, made their debut at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary. Significantly, it was the first time that Jamaica sent a bobsleigh team to the Winter Olympics.

Fast forward to 2022, they have three bobsled teams heading to the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. As the games are ready to start, Usain Bolt received an invitation from an Olympic broadcaster to take part in the competition. Here is his reply!
Usain Bolt replies to Winter Olympic calls
With three teams heading to the competitions in Beijing, Bolt showcased his support for his countrymen on Twitter. However, sending positive vibes and best of wishes, he denied any chances of him traveling to the Winter Games next month.
“Too cold for me Sir Lewis. Salute to team Jamaica all day everyday,” Bolt replied to the invitation.

Notably, Bolt’s everlasting romance with Beijing can’t be forgotten. He arrived in Beijing on the grandest of all stages, the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He won three gold medals and created world records that are yet to be broken. The relay medal he won in the Games was stripped off, however. But, for Jamaicans, the bobsled teams heading to Beijing would recall the famous memories of ‘Cool Runnings’.?

Jamaica makes history
The aforementioned five athletes on the top became symbolic of the country’s hopes of appearing in the Winter Olympics. The movie ‘Cool Runnings’?depicted the struggles that four men had to get a chance to appear for the Olympics. Hence, from there, they never looked back. Although the four-man team crashed in their last run, enormous cheers met them at the finishing line as they completed the race.

Now, the four-man bobsled team will have a company with another two-man bobsled team and a female athlete making historic appearances in the competitions. To sum up, while Usain Bolt may not be traveling to the Winter Games, can he motivate his fellow countrymen to create history in Beijing as he did?
