Usain Bolt is one of the most iconic legends of track and field. Bolt completely changed the game when it came to athletics. Athletes today look up to him with admiration and respect. The fastest man in the world, Usain Bolt’s name, is familiar to all.

Usain Bolt took up sprinting from a small age. In fact, it was his cricket coach who spotted young Bolt’s talent for sprinting and asked him to try athletics. This young boy would go on to become Jamaica’s pride in the world and one of the GOATs of the Olympics.

However, it’s not the Olympics but his record from the IAAF World Championships 2009, which remains untouched. Bolt holds the record for the fastest 200m ever. This record was clocked by him back in 2011.

How old was Lightning Bolt when he ran the fastest 200m?

At the 2009 IAAF World Championships, Bolt was the one to watch out for. He was in the prime of his career and was running at speeds never seen before. The Championships were held in Berlin, Germany.

Here,?Bolt?would go on to give the best?performances?of his career. By clocking a time of 9.58 seconds, he won the 100m and made a new World Record. But this was not it. He went ahead to win the 200m as well, clocking a phenomenal timing of 19.19 seconds. Both of these timings became World Records.

Notably, he was just 22 years of age. The athlete was one of the youngest out there, yet he was the fastest. The world records made by him stand to date and have remained untouched.

Bolt holds the record for both the fastest time in 200m, as well as the 3rd fastest time in the 200m. Both these records feature in the top 3, 200m in history, with Yohan Blake grabbing the second position.

18-year-old out there to break Usain Bolt’s long-standing record?

Meanwhile, 18-year-old Erriyon Knighton has come super close to beating Bolt’s record. The young athlete clocked a phenomenal timing of 19.49 seconds at the LSU Invitational. Notably, this is the 4th fastest time in 200m history.

Fans are of the?opinion?that this young athlete has the potential to beat Usain Bolt’s 13-year-old record. More importantly, Erriyon is just 18 years of age. He broke his own U20 World Record to clock this new timing.

The sprinter has set himself the task of breaking the World Record. However, to beat Usain Bolt’s long-standing record is no easy feat, and only time will tell whether or not Knighton achieves this.
