The track and field of Tokyo Olympics 2020 missed the king of sprinting, Usain Bolt. However, the Jamaican sprinter thinks he could’ve clinched the podium, had he still been competing.
Bolt’s confidence is justified, as the world records created by him in 2009 are yet to be broken. More so, the gold medal timing of 9.80 seconds at this year’s Summer Games was nowhere close to Usain’s fastest timing of 9.58 seconds in a 100m race.

Usain Bolt is confident he could’ve won Tokyo Olympics 2020 title
Usain Bolt drew the curtain on his astonishing career in 2017. After being the dominator of the track for decades, Bolt was tempted to make a comeback during the Tokyo Olympics 2020; however, he stayed on the sidelines.
Notably, he recently ran at the Dubai Expo 2020 for a noble cause. After the event, Bolt talked about Tokyo Olympics 2020 and how he could’ve beaten the 100m gold medalist, Italy’s Marcell Jacobs(9.80 seconds).
“My coach said something to me at the end of my career. He said, ‘People are not getting faster. I was getting slower.’ I never looked at it that way. And it’s the facts because a lot of guys don’t really get faster. Because I have pushed the barrier so far and then I started going backwards time-wise, so for me, 9.80 was possible to get done,” Bolt said.
Being on the Olympic track is a moment of pride and responsibility. Bolt revealed why he always excelled at the mega-quadrennial games.
He said, “For the Olympics, it was gonna be different. I always show up ready because I think this is the highest level, but I’ve already done everything in the sport so it was all about motivation.”
Usain is not threatened by the new generation of athletes
While Marcell won gold at 9.80 seconds, USA’s Fred Kerley(9.84) and Canada’s Andre De Grasse (9.89) clinched silver and bronze medals, respectively. Although these men are the new Olympic champions of the 100m race, Bolt is still looking for an athlete who can surpass his world record of 9.58 seconds (2009).

Bolt said, “I don’t think I’ve seen anybody in this generation right now which I personally feel will break the records.” Undoubtedly, it would take someone as exceptional and insanely skilled to reach the feats that Bolt did.
Who do you think has what it takes to steal the title of ‘The Fastest Man alive’ from Bolt?
