The Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup 2023/24 has kicked off its 58th edition in Levi as its second stop with all eyes on Mikaela Shiffrin. The alpine skiing queen has come prepared to grace the Finnish slopes, but her slalom start wasn’t great. However, another update concerned fans now.

The 28-year-old, Mikaela Shiffrin, faced a hard blow from her Slovak counterpart Petra Vlhova. The third finisher of 2022 secured a win this time, pushing Shiffrin to fourth on Day 1. But as the slalom run 2 started today, another loss surfaced.

On November 11, the 28-year-old scored a 54.21 and got defeated by Vlhova. On November 12, Shiffrin clinched the 2nd spot, clocking 56.68. With this, the 2X Olympic gold medalist starts her wait for the 100th career win all over again.

In the latest X post by Eurosport France, the caption read, “𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐞 Petra Vlhova! The Slovak is insatiable this weekend and pulverizes Shiffrin’s time (- 0”76).” The video featured Vlhova in all her glory, skiing past competition to clock a whopping 55.92 at the end of run 1. Now, the alpine skiing world has to hold its horses for the next run.

As the blue sky smiled at the skiers, the legends girded themselves up. Until yesterday, the 28-year-old GOAT was the sole possessor of 6 reindeers. But after yesterday’s grand event, the world can’t say the same. Levi, being her most beloved venue, Mikaela Shiffrin won 6 slalom victories in Levi.

But Petra Vlhova has equalled herself as she’s also the owner of 6 reindeers now. Slalom winners in Levi earn reindeers because the Finnish land is near to the Arctic Circle, and the closest to Santa Claus.
