Last week, the queen of alpine skiing, Mikaela Shiffrin won the historic 91st World Cup race, a feat none has achieved in the history of alpine skiing. Her remarkable achievement was also marked by the return of US Ski teammate, Alice Merryweather, adding more joy to Shiffrin’s victory at the Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup 2023/24.

Life hasn’t been easy for Merryweather in the last couple of years. An eating disorder, and then a deadly crash hampered her alpine skiing journey. Now as she made a return, Shiffrin has sent heartfelt hugs to the 2018 US Olympic team member in the latest update.

Alice was returning to the Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup after spending nearly two years recovering from an eating disorder, and then a brutal crash during a downhill training session in September 2021. The 27-year-old had suffered multiple injuries and had to spend several months in rehab. Alice had a successful campaign on return to the ski world after 2020 and posted a special tribute for her teammates and Mikaela Shiffrin.
