Mikaela Shiffrin is already an alpine skiing legend. However, there was one thing lacking in her career-giant slalom victory at the World Cup. GS has been a part of the annual race weekend on the East Coast, and Shiffrin hasn’t tasted the victory yet in this discipline. However, she finally changed her fortunes at Kellington in the Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup 2023/24.

Shiffrin expressed her gratitude through an Instagram story despite not being able to get her 90th World Cup win. “Possibly the best surface we’ve skied here-thank you @killingtonmtn, Cowboy, and the entire crew,” Shiffrin wrote in her caption. She finished 3rd on the podium, her maiden victory in the Giant Slalom discipline.

The 28-year-old was placed 5th at the end of the first round as New Zealand’s Alice Robinson finished at the top. However, Shiffrin soon redeemed herself with a brilliant 2nd run. She finished 3rd on the podium, a remarkable achievement given that it was her maiden GS appearance. Adding to her challenges, she was battling with an injury as well.
