Slovak Alpine skier Petra Vlhova has been dominating the 2023/24 FIS Audi Ski World Cup as she continues to ski down the slaloms with absolute finesse. With this, she has overtaken skiing queen Mikaela Shiffrin in both the rosters (November 11th and 12th). While Shiffrin is facing an uphill battle in the wake of her injury, Vlhova continues to maintain her hold on the top spot.

Mikaela Shiffrin boasts 53 slalom wins in her vocation. As the American skier continues her pursuit to complete the century, Petra Vlhova has other plans. She has been in tremendous form, as she took the first spot on Day-1 and continued her winning spree on Day-2, all while completing her run with incredible timeframe on Finnish slopes.

Petra Vlhova has lightened up the women’s slalom event at Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup. Along similar lines, the 28-year-old skier clinched a gold medal yesterday at the opening of the World Cup race. Continuing her remarkable run, Vlhova dominated the Finnish slaloms on November 12 as well.

 

Shiffrin finished 4th overall on Day-1, missing on the podium for the second time in her 13th appearance. Looking to overpower yesterday’s heroics from Vlhova, Shiffrin couldn’t leave a mark today either. Vlhova again overtook the American skier, finishing at the top with a total score of 55.93 while Shiffrin was only able to finish 0.76 seconds later as reported by FIS.

Shiffrin isn’t particularly going through the bad form. However, her performance might got hindered partly because of her recent injury.

Injury affects skiing legend’s 100-win pursuit

Chasing the thrill down the Slaloms is Mikaela Shiffrin’s beloved alpine skiing discipline. However, looking to win back-to-back golds at the Audi FIS Ski World Cup, Shiffrin suffered a major setback before yesterday’s run. The 28-year-old suffered a minor collision during training, hurting her knee in the process.

Unfortunately, I had a wee tumble last week and took a fair amount of impact through my left knee.”, Shiffrin posted on her Instagram handle. Although she was cleared by the medical panel to partake in the event, the bruise might not have healed completely, affecting her performance. However, there is still a lot in store for the American alpine skier as the event goes on. Fans would be hoping for a good finish from Shiffrin in the next run.
