Mikaela Shiffrin has not only been a prominent force in the alpine skiing world but has also captured attention beyond. The World Champion, making her debut at the age of 15, has traveled a remarkable journey to establish her position today. From winning the Olympic gold twice to holding the record for the most World Champion wins, Mikaela has consistently shown her dedication. The 28-year-old icon, who has received much from the skiing community, is committed to giving back. Over the years, Mikaela has actively participated in multiple charities, contributing her share of kindness.

In a remarkable comeback, the skiing star has teamed up with the U.S. Ski & Snowboard fundraiser, showcasing her commitment to giving back to the community. This philanthropic move comes on the heels of a recent decision to part with one of her valued possessions – her Colorado condo, listed for sale at $745,000. However, the collaboration for a good cause received an overwhelming response for the icon. The young sensation, proud of this remarkable feat, took to Instagram to share the moment.

The U.S. Ski & Snowboard Association, the governing body for Olympic skiing and snowboarding, held its annual fundraiser earlier this month. The event, hosted by Ron Kruszewski, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Stifel Financial Corp. and a trustee of the association, marked its presence for the 7th consecutive year. Stepping it up a notch this year, the event embraced the theme of ‘Mikaela’s Roadhouse.’

Celebrating the 88-time World Cup winner, the fundraiser was designed after Mikaela Shiffrin’s career achievements. The event witnessed the presence of Mikaela alongside Dierks Bentley as the night’s primary entertainer. However, the highlight of the entire event turned out to be the unprecedented success of it. The team at the U.S. Ski & Snowboard gathered in the evening to raise an impressive and record-breaking $1 million. Mikaela, grateful for the overwhelming response and the success of the event, took to Instagram to express her appreciation.

Grateful of the feat, Mikaela wrote, “What an amazing event this year in St. Louis…I truly didn’t think it was possible for it to be bigger and better than last year, but kudos to… team for raising a record $1m+!” She further added, “THANK YOU to the St. Louis community for showing up, once again…Honestly, the event was just so much fun and I’m excited we were able to raise so much money for all sports and disciplines at U.S. Ski & Snowboard!” The event wasn’t Mikaela’s first hand at a charity event. The skiing star has previously involved herself in more such services working for causes.

The alpine skiing star’s previous endeavors

The year 2020 was tough for many, and Mikaela was notably among those affected. The icon, losing her father early that year, also had to endure the shutting down of the World Cup the very next month. Returning devastated and with nowhere to channel her emotions, Shiffrin poured her energy into contributing to charitable causes. First, she went in to perform for “Goggles for Docs,” that worked to provide the health workers with ski goggles. Her second venture included the All-in Charity auction.

The latter set out prizes that included ski equipment and a ticket to a meet & greet with the icon herself at the Women’s World Cup in Killington, Vermont. The funds from the all-in challenge were further directed towards providing food to kids, the elderly, and frontline heroes in need. Another of her endeavors included stepping into a leadership role for a foundation fighting poor treatment and bullying. Joining alongside tennis player Madison Keys, Mikaela took an active part in Kindness Wins.

“I really identify with the kids out there who have an introverted personality in an extroverted world and are not sure how to navigate that,” Mikaela said while talking to Reuters. The skiing star further shared that hearing all the stories, even if upsetting, was inspirational. She revealed that participating in such activities helped her keep her feet on the ground and stay grateful. Mikaela, through her actions both in her profession and outside of it, continues to be exemplary.
