In a thrilling showdown on the slopes, Mikaela Shiffrin seized an emotional victory in the women’s World Cup night race. She showcased her tenacity and skill facing off against Slovakian skier Petra Vlhova in yet another gripping chapter of their ongoing slalom rivalry. Shiffrin trailed by a mere 0.07 seconds after the first run however, with a stellar performance in the final run, she secured the win by a remarkable 0.27 seconds.
This triumph held special significance, just nine days after Shiffrin’s challenging race, which she didn’t finish due to a cold. Contributing to the already tumultuous ride, she visited the hospital in Switzerland three days earlier to see her partner, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, after the Norwegian skier’s downhill crash. However, despite clinching her 94th Alpine skiing World Cup recently, Shiffrin candidly revealed what truly matters to her, and it’s not just about the number 94.
