After a disappointing Beijing Winter Olympics 2022, Mikaela Shiffrin made an epic comeback. She won the World Cup overall title after brilliant performances last week. Having won her fourth World Cup title, Shiffrin is happy with her performance.
But, her time in Beijing saw her not winning a medal in any of the events. With doubts regarding her form heading to the World Cup final, she put that to bed and answered her critiques with brilliant skiing.

In the midst of a sensational fourth title, she spoke about her time in Beijing and couldn’t believe what happened. From being the hands-down favorite to win gold medals, she faltered at every step.
Mikaela Shiffrin opens up on her time in Beijing
With her father’s sudden passing and the Covid-19 lockdowns, her off-season training was not up to scratch. With all the difficulties in place, Shiffrin had a tough time getting her form back. A back injury caused her 2020-21 season to go up for a toss with incomplete preparations for competitions. After arriving in Beijing, her training routines were customary, but they never materialized and had a tough Olympic Games.
“I still don’t really have a significant reason or a really great explanation for why the Olympics happened the way they did for me. Maybe I don’t really have to have an explanation. Especially after the last couple of weeks, my skiing, in all events, is still fast. It’s good to get some distance from the performance in Beijing and realize nothing really changed there. It boils down to good skiing and, obviously, making it to the finish,” said Shiffrin.
Back after the Olympics, she started performing well and started winning competitions. This led to her fourth World Cup title.

She finished second in her comeback race in the Super-G event in Lenzerheide, Switzerland. After that, she had podium finishes in many races and finished first in the downhill race to edge her closer to the title.
With a second-place finish in the super-G event, Shiffrin took home the title from her closest rival Petra Vlhova. Tied with Lindsey Vonn with four titles, she has Annemarie Moser-Pröll in front of her with six titles.
The confidence is back for the talented skier. Still 27, her career is not done yet with her wanting to win more titles in the future.
