She has conquered skiing. Downhill, super-G, giant slalom, slalom, and super-combined. Her record of 82 World Cup victories was broken recently in January 2023 by Mikaela Shiffrin. With her Olympic gold and bronze, two world championship golds, and four overall World Cup titles, Lindsey Vonn is one of the greatest and most successful American skiers. Even after four years of her retirement, Vonn is actively inspiring people, and having a positive impact on the community.
She is an entrepreneur, a mentor, an influencer, and a sports superstar. Her foundation was set up to empower underprivileged girls, and she has invested her resources and time in women?s sports.?
Retired from skiing, not from life

After becoming the co-owner of the Angels City FC, a national women’s soccer league team, Vonn recently partnered with Kevin Durant and other prominent athletes for the launch of LOVB. It is the inaugural professional volleyball league in the USA. Since retiring from Ski racing, Vonn has tried to find the areas in which women are underrepresented. Vonn deeply cares about giving a platform to women so they can succeed in their sports.
Talking exclusively to Olympics.com she said that Skiing is not the most popular sport but because it is an Olympic sport, it was a big deal and it gave them endorsements and other opportunities but not all of them are that lucky, adding to it she said,??I feel lucky that I’m able to, again, invest in them. It’s not a monetary endeavor?for me. It’s more of my belief in them and what they can achieve.? She is investing in that belief and it is something that has been the Centre of her focus since post-retirement.
She might have hung up her ski boots and skis, but Lindsey has not stopped. She knows how impactful popular athletes can be and has used her popularity for the greater good. While talking exclusively to Olympic.com she recalled a memory from her childhood where she met her hero and how it inspired her to be like her even better, she said, ?When I met Picabo Street when I was nine years old, she just took 90 seconds out of her day to make me smile as a kid.” That one memory forever has stayed with Vonn and she aspires to be like her, to have a positive and wholesome impact on anyone she meets.

She has put good use of her resources and platform to promote women in underrepresented sports. After her legendary career, the Vancouver 2010 gold medalist is open to embracing new opportunities and is eager to share her knowledge and experience however she is not looking forward to coaching. In her words, “I hate the cold. So to be standing on the mountain and not competing would be very difficult for me.? This might be a piece of disappointing news for fellow champion Olympian Sofia Goggia who wanted Lindsey to be part of her coaching staff.

She is an influential personality who is inspiring a new generation of strong women athletes. She is filling the role of an inspiring mentor through her management abilities and doing more and more for the community of women athletes rather than just one sport. This makes her not just a champion of her sport but also a people?s champion.
