The most celebrated ski and snowboard destination, Killington Resort, cradled in the arms of Eastern North America, made a grand opening last Friday. On November 3, 2023, at sharp 10am in the morning, in the presence of ski enthusiasts, the resort opened its doors for the 2023/24 winter season. Embarking on the 65th season, the GM said, “We are very excited to get back to skiing and riding and thrilled to support several great charities in lieu of an opening day gift for pass-holders this year as part of our Play Forever pledge.”

Though the resort has a lot of activities in store for the winter, the most looked for is the Alpine Skiing World Cup. Killington Resort took to their ‘X’ handle to post, “Cheers to a great Day One! Tomorrow we open for at 9:00 a.m. for all to enjoy, and then repeat, 7 days a week.” The video featured skiers and snowboarders from all around, having the time of their lives at the snow-clad venue.

Sharing the post, the alpine GOAT wrote, Love to see this!! Way to go, @KillingtonMtn…can’t wait to see you in a few weeks!” On November 25, 2023, women’s Giant Slalom will hit the Killington slopes. Following, on November 26, the slalom event is scheduled at the same venue. So, as per Shiffrin’s caption, “see you in a few weeks” confirmed her upcoming appearance in these two.

For Shiffrin, being back in Killington after a year is like being back home for Thanksgiving. Though her 2022 Killington history isn’t that remarkable, the crowd had her heart.

On a mission to earn her 6th straight Killington Win, the Olympic prepared for a run. The venue where she had clinched her previous five World Cup wins, awaited the skier to make big strides. Though the first gave her the top position, her second left her in distress. Shiffrin, who honed her skiing skills in childhood in Killington, faced her 13th place finish in the giant slalom event.

While Wendy Holdener took the slalom victory, this year’s Giant Slalom champ Lara Gut-Behrami took victory in her signature GS. Shedding light on the Killington crowd, the Vermont-schooled Olympian said, “You can hear a roar, you can feel this rumbling. Here they always bring the energy.”
