Alpine Skiing legend Mikaela Shiffrin will be back to defend her giant slalom title this coming weekend. Over the Thanksgiving weekend, the Audi FIS Alpine Ski World 2023/24 had witnessed the 28-year-old legend clinch her 6th slalom title. Now, she’s back again with her worthy counterparts, including the Swiss skier Lara Gut-Behrami.
After 40 long years, the Canadian resort will invite top-tier skiers to lock horns. Among the favorites, Petra Vlhova, Behrami, Wendy Holdener and Shiffrin have the most eyes this season. So, keeping the world at its feet, the Alpine Ski World Cup wishes to experience a hassle-free event at a very special venue.

The video featured the skiers racing past like fierce athletes with snow flying around. Lara Gut-Behrami said, “Yeah I’m super happy and it’s amazing for me.” Moreover, the crowd cheering atop their voices at seeing the skiers in action was a one-of-a-kind scene. Another weekend of hugging, falling, and shedding tears is upcoming.
Having said so, on Shiffrin’s 90th World Cup victory, the 28-year-old Olympian had made up her mind to root for her 91st victory. Shiffrin’s last Canada race took place in 2021, which didn’t gift her a podium finish. She instead clinched a Super G 6th position at Lake Louis, Canada.
But her recent Killington display was nothing short of fireworks worthy. After all, she couldn’t let down her best World Cup season and sadden the 34,000 people present.

The largest ski and snowboard resort in Eastern North America, Vermont’s Killington resort, was the most favorite venue of the Alpine Ski circuit. And the resort has witnessed its starlet secure the win once again. Clocking a record time of 1 minute 42.02 seconds, the 28-year-old left her worthy rival Vlhova in second. Interestingly, in six of the seven slalom events held in Killington, Shiffrin had won all.
With just 1.37s behind, Swiss favorite Wendy Holdener finished third. After the win, Shiffrin had said, “It’s a pretty incredible hill and especially in slalom I feel like I have a good mentality. And I feel like the crowd really, really helps me here … I say it every year, but it’s so loud, and I can hear them cheering at every split where the intermediate times are.”
