Usain Bolt is the first name to pop up when anyone talks about track and field events. Bolt has secured his name in the list of all-time greats at the Olympics, but the Jamaican superstar had to fight innumerable battles to become a global superstar. However, the first and probably the biggest challenge of his life dawned as he was born.

The Olympic champion was born with an abnormality that could end the career of various athletes. However, the fastest man on the planet chose not to slow down despite his serious medical anomalies.

The 8-time Olympic Gold medalist was born with scoliosis, a medical condition that results in a curved spinal cord. The Lightning Bolt has a spinal curvature of more than 40 degrees, which can trouble a normal human in doing basic routine activities. However, the Jamaican athlete was indeed no ordinary man.

According to experts, in conversation with the New York Times, the abnormality was a blessing in disguise for Bolt as it helped him generate explosive strength. Bolt gets more force from his left leg, which helps him build momentum against the ground. However, the athlete faced major setbacks at the beginning of his career and was injured multiple times. Soon the runner realized that he needed chiropractic treatment which helped him for the next couple of years.

With a height of 6’5″ and strides reaching up to 9 meters, Bolt’s scoliosis never stopped him from breaking records. While there’s a popular notion that Bolt was a gifted athlete, the reports from the scoliosis reduction center suggest that it was his dedicated hardworking attitude that led him to where he was. Bolt has to work day in and day out to overcome his physical challenges.

Bolt’s recent financial crisis

While the world has seen the heroics of the Blue Bolt, his retirement life has not been a fairytale recently. Bolt lost all his investments after more than $9,998,000 million were scammed from his stocks investment account. Bolt opened this account in 2012 with the investment firm Stocks and Securities Limited (SSL) and invested all his retirement money in it.

The situation took a turn when the SSL admitted to a financial fraud carried out by an internal employee. This resulted in the financial losses of 30 people, including Bolt. While they are yet to catch the culprit, recovery too seems impossible. It seems like the challenges for the sprinting icon aren’t going to stop anytime soon.
