Notably, the actor had a friend whom he considered his brother. Chan was on good terms with the brand that the man worked for, and Chan knew him for a long time. He wanted that man to refurbish his Rolls-Royce but after one year of hum and haw, he failed to deliver. Though Chan was getting rumors about his bad habits, he didn’t pay heed and believed the friend once again, now with a Bentley. The deal was he would help the actor get a new two-door car for his existing four-door one. The friend informed Chan that he got a good deal of $2.5 million Hong Kong dollars, but on the day of delivery, the actor learned that nothing was paid on his behalf, and he had to give $3.2 million for the new car.

This enraged the martial artist, and unlike other times, he sued him. As he wrote,?“He took $3 million from me in total, and I was absolutely furious. I sued him. Even if it cost me a billion dollars, I was going to see justice done. In the end, I bankrupted him.”?The actor indeed learned a lesson and did the needful this time which he couldn’t do previously.

Chan failed to do it earlier

Chan’s kind nature always gave him a reality check. Before losing the sum to his friend,?the Rush Hour star lost a hefty $40 million to an unknown man.?In fact, even after knowing that the man was deceiving him, the actor was unable to take a step.?“I?d been cheated out of larger sums than this (I?ve got more dollars than sense, remember), but I didn?t take those swindlers to court.”

Even after the incident, he will talk normally to that person like nothing happened. This confused his friends, who were curious about why he was not doing anything to seek revenge. But as the actor put it,?“I won?t stop having faith in people just because of someone like him.”
