A month ago, in a YouTube video, New Zealand mixed martial artist Israel Adesanya talked about his inspiration. The martial artist loved both legends, but he had a different perspective on both too.
His statements on Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan
It’s not like Israel Adesanya had any issues with Bruce Lee over Jackie Chan, he liked them both. But there was a special thing about Chan that made Adesanya like him more than Lee.
?Bruce Lee is the godfather of MMA, but for me, Jackie Chan was that guy. He was the one that when I used to watch him on movies, I?d be chucking, I?d be smiling, I?d be amazed at what he?s doing. He?s the guy that got me into martial arts, and I took up Taekwondo at my primary school at the time,? Adesanya said. Bruce Lee’s method is still used in the MMA scene. Even after all those years, it hasn’t faded away, and Lee’s legacy still continues. But Adesanya’s personal preference is more for Jackie Chan.
Jackie Chan is still the pinnacle of action comedy movies. The movies he acts in heavily involve action and absurd stunts in Chan’s style. Adesanya liked the way Chan’s movies gave him a burst of good laughter in his childhood. He also got inspired by Chan and started his journey in martial arts. Adesanya started by taking Taekwondo, and currently, he has won multiple championships in martial arts and kickboxing.

The Hong Kong-born martial artist, because of his early expertise in martial arts, got onto the movie sets pretty quickly. He got recognized for his absurd stunts and insane comedic skills in action movies. Jackie Chan’s being Jackie Chan is what made him popular throughout the world.

All of the films he acted in weren’t easy because, during that time, CGI was unavailable and technology wasn’t advanced enough. So Chan did all of his stunts on his own, which mostly led him to the hospital bed.
