23-year-old Los Angeles Dodger Gavin Lux suffered a rough ending to his game against the San Diego Padres yesterday. With the score tied at 5-5 in the top of the sixth inning, Will Myers smashed a pitch from Max Scherzer towards Lux. Chasing the fly ball, the second baseman attempted to make a catch while running backwards.
However, he dropped the catch and ultimately slammed into the wall. While Lux recovered and sat out today’s game against the Padres, his Dodgers teammates made a hilarious gesture for their second baseman.

Los Angeles Dodgers players made a funny tribute to Gavin Lux
Lux endured a relatively tough game against the Padres yesterday. He only came at bats twice, and didn’t score any runs or an RBI. Hence, his collision with the wall looked quite nasty, adding more woes to his Wednesday outing.
The 23-year-old hit the wall carrying significant pace, and stayed on the ground after the impact. He held his collarbone area when he hit the ground, with his teammate A. J. Pollock coming in to check on him.

During the passage of play before attending to Lux, the Padres gained a run through Victor Caratini to take a 6-5 lead. Lux left the field after this collision, with the Dodgers ultimately winning the game 11-9.

Prior to today’s game against the Padres, the Dodgers placed a cut-out of Lux on the same wall which he collided into. As part of a prank, Pollock, along with fellow Dodgers Markus Lynn “Mookie” Betts and Cody Bellinger headed over to the cut-out to give a “tribute” to Lux.

This sent the 23-year-old into laughter, as many in the Dodger Stadium chimed in with their reactions as well.

The Dodgers are currently second in the National League West
In today’s match against the Padres, the defending World Series champions kept their momentum going with a dominant 8-3 victory. This takes them to an impressive 103-56 record, and are two games behind the San Fransisco Giants in the National League West.

With three games remaining, they could dethrone the Giants from the top of NL West. However, this can only happen if the Dodgers win all their three games and the Giants lose theirs. Should the Giants win one of them and Dodgers win all three, there will be a tiebreaker game.
