When the Atlanta Braves were just one win away from clinching the World Series, it would have been easier to make an accurate prediction about their success. However, making an accurate prediction right at the start of a new MLB season is much tougher, for which former MLB player Trevor Plouffe deserves credit.

At the start of the season, the 35-year-old made a prediction not just for the winner of the World Series, but the entire manner of it as well. Following the Braves’ historic win yesterday, Plouffe’s tweet left the world shocked in more ways than one.
Trevor Plouffe correctly predicted how the World Series would play out
After spending several seasons in the minor leagues, Plouffe made his MLB debut with the Minnesota Twins in 2010. He spent seven seasons with them before playing for the Tampa Bay Rays and the Oakland Athletics in 2017. He ended his MLB career with the Philadelphia Phillies after the 2018 season.
On April 1, 2021, the 35-year-old made a bold prediction for how the season would end. He predicted the Braves would beat the Houston Astros in six games in this year’s World Series. While it seemed startling on the day, which was co-incidentally April Fool’s, millions came back to Plouffe’s tweet following yesterday’s result.

In another tweet as part of this thread, the former Twins player admitted he didn’t bet on his prediction. He wrote, “I know there are a lot of eyes on this tweet today. No I didn’t bet anything on it!” One can only wonder what could have been had he taken his chances!

The Atlanta Braves clinched their first World Series title since 1995
While Game 5 saw a high-scoring back-and-forth game, the Braves dominated the Astros on the road. Jorge Soler, who won the World Series MVP, smashed a three-run home run in the top of the third inning to get the Braves off to a fine start.
Dansby Swanson then smashed a two-run home run in the top of the fifth, before Freddie Freeman added an RBI. The latter then smashed a solo home run in the top of the seventh to take the Braves out of sight and towards their first World Series victory since 1995.
