This sparked a worldwide debate which put her in the spotlight for prioritizing herself over Olympic success. Thus, she received the honor of being one of the Women of the Year for using her platform to shed light on mental health.
In an Instagram Q&A session with fans, Biles was asked about her worst injury ever. Surprisingly, her answer had nothing to do with an injury on the gymnastics floor.
“Mental injuries,” Simone answered, “because no one understands them.” Simone wrote how nobody understands mental health problems “unless they’re going through a similar situation.”

“Physical injuries… broken rib, shattered toes, torn labrum, blah blah,” Biles described. “I have a super high pain tolerance though,” she finished.
