It’s a truth that Brazilian Cowboys dominate the PBR scene. Brazil has produced the top two bull riding stars in the PBR, and as the World Finals get near, the excitement in the arena only grows. A packed audience saw the 2023 PBR Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour Finals in Corpus Christi, Texas. However, the packed house cheered enthusiastically when a relative unknown won the tournament thanks to his exceptional performance.

Joao Lucas Campos, who is unranked in the league, rode the #217 bull, White Face, who was 53.0% effective in bucking him off. PBR’s official YouTube channel featured the intense duel.

The arena in Corpus Christi, Texas, was packed for the championship round of the 2023 PBR Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour Finals. Everyone was keeping an eye on the Brazilian cowboy, who had come to make his mark on the league by taking it by storm. White Face, who has a good enough buck-off rate, was given to Campos. When the metal chutes were removed, however, the arena went completely berserk, and the cowboy had no qualms about challenging the beast.

As the seconds ticked by, onlookers in the arena saw the Brazilian cowboy have complete control over the bull. Campos completed a remarkable 8-second buzzer beater, impressing the crowd and cementing his reputation as a top performer. After successfully dismounting the bull, the audience erupted in applause for the rider. The judges were so thrilled with his ride that they gave him an 88 overall. In his debut competition in the United States, the Brazilian superstar replicated the 2017 performance of two-time PBR world champion Jose Vitor Leme. Now that Campos has made his mark in the rodeo world by winning $37,250 in this event, he likely has his sights set on the global championships.

Maturing day by day

Joao Lucas Campos, a native of Porto Feliz, Brazil, competed in his first PBR Brazil bull riding event on December 6, 2018. The cowboy’s first attempt at bull riding resulted in no points and no earnings. The cowboy may have been completely doomed in his first few years on the bull, but he picked up valuable lessons from each and every buck-off.
