In the realm of bull riding, Sage Kimzey is a household name. The American cowboy, originally from Oklahoma, is a seven-time PRCA world champion bull rider. The seven-time PRCA world champion is still looking for his big break in the PBR. A slugfest of a draft preceded the 2023 PBR Team Series season. The selection of Sage Kimzey by the Carolina Cowboys at the top of the draft has generated a lot of buzz.

The Cowboy Channel has reported that seven-time PRCA Bull Riding World Champion Sage Kimzey will compete in the 2023 PBR Team Series for the Carolina Cowboys this summer. The world champion’s first major appearance in the world of PBR comes with some comments before the big day.

The bull riding event that the world champion would be looking forward to

In the United States, the oldest and biggest professional rodeo organization is the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA). From 2014 through 2019 and again in 2021, the Oklahoman dominated the PRCA competitions. Six consecutive world championships have made Sage Kimzey a formidable opponent on the international stage.

However, the American cowboy has yet to establish a definitive dominance in his PBR career. The Carolina Cowboys wasted little time after hearing about the seven-time PRCA world champion becoming available in Round 1 of the 2023 PBR Team Series Draft and promptly drafted him. The Cowboys have also added Josh Frost, a three-time participant in the National Finals Rodeo, to the roster as Kimzey’s peer. The team showed they were serious about competing by adding two seasoned cowboys to their roster.

According to the report by The Cowboy Channel, after a great draft session, Sage Kimzey shared some words regarding the upcoming season, saying, “Getting to come on (to announce) and get familiar with the PBR Teams last year, it’s one of those things, I do think this is the future of the sport.” The world champion is overjoyed to be restarting his PBR career with such a terrific group of people behind him.

The big draft session before the season

On July 24, 2023, Cheyenne, Wyoming, will host the first competition in the PBR Team Series. This year, 147 new riders entered the draft pool. The 115 individuals who were not chosen will immediately become free agents. The initial draft results hinted at the potential intensity of the future events, where the eight teams would be demonstrating their prowess.
