Bull riding is inherently risky since the rider is at the whim of the 1,100–2,200-pound beast that is bent on bucking them off. Despite the risks, the cowboys do their best to delight the spectators and viewers at home by staying steady atop the bull for as long as possible. And, of course, impressing the judges who assign points according to their performance. There are plenty of rodeos to go around, but the Amped Up Pro Bull Riding Tour is one that draws in the crowds every time.

This weekend, the Amped Up Pro Bull Riding Tour makes its seventh annual stop in St. Joseph, bringing with it the top 25 cowboys and the top 50 bull pairs to compete at the Civic Arena. The performance is one of the most anticipated in the city, and has piqued the interest of not just the spectators but also the event staff. KQ2 news covered the topic as the big day drew near.

As reported by KQ2 news, Tyler Pettigrew, who is the show entertainer, says, “It’s the hottest show in town.” He continued that the audience was even more excited to witness the top 25 cowboys and top 50 bulls in the event go head-to-head. Because of the caliber of the bull riders competing, announcer Dylan Gross describes the event as “The toughest among others.” Pettigrew notes that the employees who are putting on the event aren’t able to go home because of the preparations, but that the family-like environment is what keeps everyone motivated. Gross makes the same point as the rodeo clown/entertainer, relaying how everyone is thrilled to be there. The rodeo tickets are on sale now, and the gates will open at 6 p.m. for those attending the 7:30 p.m. performance.
