The world of bull riding is anxious for some local rodeo action as PBR rests and prepares for the club competitions. And what better way to provide exciting bull riding to local fans than with the Northern Bull Riding Tour? On Friday night, rodeo fans in Prairie Village, Kansas, were treated to an exciting performance by the Northern Bull Riding Tour. The bucking bull competition pitted cowboys from all around the area against one another. The crowd was taken aback, however, by a phenomenal performance by a cowboy from Rapid City, South Dakota.

Matt Fenton, a cowboy from Rapid City, rode the bull with ease and won the competition. The Madison Daily Leader posted a report detailing the cowboy’s outstanding performance in the rodeo.

Riding bulls is a thrilling yet risky sport. The angry bull doesn’t always show compassion to those who get a buck off of it. The fate of the unarmed cowboy who was riding the bull only seconds before he was bucked off rests solely on the bull’s reaction. Points are awarded on a scale from 0 to 100, with the rider receiving 50 points and the bull receiving 50 points; the final score is determined by the rider’s skill in taming a bull that weighs ten times as much as a typical cowboy. The Northern Bull Riding Tour saw an entirely different environment from the one seen at professional events such as the Professional Bull Riders.

Twenty cowboys from all across the United States, from Minnesota to Wyoming, showed up for the event on the previous Friday. Each contestant gave it their all in an effort to win over the judges and get the coveted 8-second buzzer. Except for one cowboy from Rapid City, none of them were able to make it to the final ride. When Matt Fenton caught a flawless 8-second buzzer, he shocked the crowd and earned 80 points from the judges. The cowboy from South Dakota had no competition and hence won easily, as reported by the Madison Daily Leader.

This cowboy’s act at the rodeo was a tremendous hit with the spectators. The organizers of the Northern Bull Riding Tour, however, insisted that the event was more than that.

Time for the young generation of rodeo

The Northern Bull Riding Tour offered a mini bull riding event in addition to the professional cowboy competition. This may seem like an easy occasion, but it wasn’t for the young cowboys who were under 18. It was a test for the next generation of rodeo superstars to get an 8-second buzzer on a calf. Despite the magnitude of the event, it was treated more as a rehearsal for the younger participants and a stunning display for the adult spectators.

Many young people took part in the tournament. Only one young rider, though, managed to beat the 8-second buzzer. Breck Grav of Dell Rapids, South Dakota, topped the other kids by scoring a 48 with an 8-second buzzer. The rodeo had a lot of exciting performances and was a real treat for everyone interested in rodeo.
