Never would anyone imagine Chuck Norris to appear in a movie like ‘Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story’, which later turned out to be a cult classic. However, the road to signing him was not a straightforward task. He initially turned it down because of the long distances to the set. But later, actor Ben Stiller convinced him to sign up for the movie. What followed then was Hollywood at its finest.?

Often found acting in action-hero movies, the martial arts expert made his extra bucks after appearing in the ‘Way of the Dragon’ with the legendary Bruce Lee. Asked to appear for a cameo in the movie, Norris initially denied it. He did not want to drive three hours to the movie set in Long Beach, California. Enter Ben Stiller, the patient negotiator.?

After all the initial rejections, Stiller convinced Norris to do the movie. The later however did not read the script and simply shot the cameo. It is a simple scene where a group of misfits tries to save a local, cherished gym from corporate health fitness chains. Complications in the final dodgeball match saw Chuck Norris, as himself, making a vital decision that changed the course of the movie. Stiller’s, character though, did not approve of this decision.?
?As Norris hit the theaters to watch the release of the movie, he saw the surprising aspect. “But in the end, when Ben?s a big fatty and watching TV, the last line of the whole movie is, ?F***in? Chuck Norris! My mouth fell open to here? I said, ?Holy mackerel!? That was a shock, Ben didn?t tell me about that!”?mentioned?Norris to Empire in 2007. It is where the tables turned.?

Even though this scene surprised him, Norris took the line in good spirits. The epic Ben Stiller, depressed and obese after losing the match in the movie, drew tremendous praise for his performance in the motion picture. Being a martial arts expert, Norris probably would have planned something for Stiller after this scene!
