From luxurious houses to an army truck to cars worth millions, Arnie has everything one could ever dream of. The Austrian-American bodybuilder, model, actor, businessman, and politician, is one of the most famous personalities on the planet. He boasts a massive fan following.

However, such was not always the case. Arnold’s childhood days were full of struggles. Growing up in the war-torn nation of Austria, the Terminator star lived a life different from now. Talking with Tim Ferriss once, the retired bodybuilder gave his fans a sneak peek into his past life.

Arnold Schwarzenegger talked about his life back in Austria 

Arnold agrees that the resources were limited as he grew up. But that did not make him feel poor because they were “surrounded by farmers that had very little money.” Much like them, they, too, had little farms or were working-class people who made nominal money.

Speaking about his father, he said“my dad didn’t make much money at all because he was a police officer,” though he mentioned the other benefits like healthcare and pension that his father got. He emphasized that his father made enough for his mother to “buy the groceries” and other essentials.

Life for him in his growing-up years was not luxurious. There were struggles but the dreams to do better were bigger. There is no denying that, much like Arnie, the “other kids were kind of in the same boat,” but his passion motivated him to strive hard and try his luck in The States.

The passion kept Arnold going 

Like every immigrant, Arnold came to this country to try his luck. As days passed, he slowly but surely climbed up the success ladder. He did not just win the prestigious Mr. Olympia title seven times, but also made his name in the entertainment industry.

A man of multiple talents, Arnold became the second foreign-born governor of California after Irish-born Governor John G. Downey in 1862. Talking about his journey, he said“As an immigrant, I know the magnetic power of America’s greatness. There is no denying that Arnold has worked hard to enjoy the success that very few do. He is truly inspirational.
