Surfing enthusiasts have, over the years, found alternatives to water surfing adapting to the surrounding environment. And, grass surfing is an example of innovation. Though the concept is old, it’s gaining acceptability gradually. The idea of surfing on grass is to use the grass hills or slopes where there is moisture, and dry grass for the board to skate.
People living at higher altitudes and hilly areas often indulge in grass surfing. On the same note, a clip has appeared on social media platforms in which a man is surfing on the grass. However, little did he know that he will end up surrounded by some unprecedented circumstances. His surfing has ignited the possibilities of grass surfing and has become a topic of discussion.
Surfing on the Grass: Unbelievable Excitement

Surfers of insta have posted a clip on their Instagram page, showing a man surfing on the grass. In the caption of the post, it says “Grass surfing” and has hash-tagged other surfing pages. In the video, a man starts from the height of the slope and surfs down the slope. On the first attempt, he surfs properly for a long distance and stumbles in the end.

Then on the second attempt, he surfs halfway and loses control onboard, resulting in his falling on his shoulders. In the last attempt, he stumbles early on, arriving at the breaker, and falls on his back. Nevertheless, the reason for his failed attempts was the wet grass and slippery slope.
Grass Surfing as an Alternative

The grass surfing concept started in the early 90s in Costa Rica. The idea popped up due to the need of adaptation to the surrounding environment, as hilly areas have steep slopes and heavy rainfalls.
To engage in grass surfing, one must find a sloping hill composed of dry grass, sand, moss, dirt, or another suitable surface to attain speed and maintain control. However, it is risky due to the possibility of ramping against the rock, so safety parameters should be taken care of.

Grass surfing is fun and challenging and can be surfed by people of all ages. It offers exciting opportunities to ride different surfaces and explore new environments while giving the same thrill as the traditional one. However, its consequences can sometimes be fatal and can render some severe lacerations.
