In an Instagram thread post the Olympic medalist speedskater shared saddening news with his fans. He announced his retirement from the sports. He said, “Might as well make my first thread the announcement of my retirement. It’s been such a good ride, but nothing lasts forever“.

Last year, he took a hiatus because of some medical issue with his back. The purpose of it was to recover with proper time and then resume active sports. But, unfortunately, it seems that didn’t work out, and he choose to hang his skates. He appreciates what he has achieved but reminded us that nothing last forever. He intends to continue his association with sports as a coach to nurture future talents.

Joey Mantia’s journey in the world of speed skating began as an inline skater, where he quickly established himself as one of the sport’s brightest talents.
