Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Award a.k.a. ESPY award ceremony is all set to commence on 13th July. The ESPY Awards are a way of honoring and acknowledging athletes’ achievements and recognizing the top sports performances of the year. Now, joining the clan of best performances, alpine skiing champion Mikaela Shiffrin made a splash among her fandom and penned her name under two award nominations. However, just hours before gracing her presence at the event, Shiffrin found herself in major confusion.

Recently, the skier shared a dilemma with her fans, asking them which outfit would go best with the award ceremony. Following this, the Olympian’s social media family helped her overcome the confusion in the most intriguing way.

Mikaela Shiffrin shares her intrigue with fans

In an Instagram story, the two-time Olympic gold medalist shared a dilemma with her fans prior to awards. As she faces confusion between choosing two attires, she asked her fandom to help her choose the perfect vogue. In the caption of the story, she wrote, ” I need your help picking a look for the ESPYs tomorrow night!“.

In the story, the Alpine skiing world cup winner wore two dresses. One was a silver backless dress which she posed in standing side-wise and the other was also a white sleeveless dress with golden tree leaves embroidery at the front. Following this, she asked the fans to choose the best among them. Interestingly, the silver colored shimmer dress received more votes than her white outfit.

The Alpine skier is a nominee in two award categories. One in ‘Best Athlete women’s sports’ and the other in ‘Best Record-Breaking Performance’, as this year she broke the record of most world cup victories. The voting for the awards started in June and continues till the awards night.

Mikaela Shiffrin’s Remarkable Career

Shiffrin is considered one of the greatest Alpine skiers of all time. She started skiing at an early age. She won her first world cup in 2012 when she was only 17. Ever since then, she never looked back, and now she has recorded 87 wins in the world cup, more than any in history in both men’s and women’s categories. Interestingly, by clinching her 86th world cup victory, she broke the decades old record of Ingemar Stenmark.

She has won  53 world cup slalom races the highest ever and also won three Olympic medals in her career to date. Two gold in Sochi 2014 in slalom, and PyeongChang 2018 in Women’s giant slalom. She won a silver at PyeongChang 2018 in Women’s Alpine combined.

ESPY Awards is a prestigious award for athletes. Mikaela’s record-breaking performance in this year’s world cup made her a nominee, and her fandom is cheering for her and is looking forward to Shiffrin framing another accolade on her wall of fame.
